Cambelt failure
Renault Megane 1.4 with Cylinder head off because of customer not changing cambelt at the set interval and the teeth came off the belt and caused the valves to hit the pistons and bend them. The cylinder head is needs to be removed to fix the valves. For between £100 to around £300 for a cambelt change with tensioners depending what car it is. It''s well worth getting done before the time is due because it could end up like this one needing £800 worth of work done when it fails.

Renault Megane Scenic Cambelt jump
This is benn removing a cylinder head. This is what can happen when a car is not serviced once a year. The alternator belt had started to fall apart and the cambelt pulled the loose belt in and made the cambelt belt jump on the crank and the valves hit the pistons, causing the engine to fail. It would have been advised on service.
